Best Candidates For Lip Enhancement

Lip filler is ideal for individuals looking to enhance the shape, balance, or hydration of their lips while maintaining a natural appearance. The best candidates are those who want subtle volume, improved symmetry, or more definition without an overfilled look.

You may be a good candidate for lip filler if you have naturally thin lips, uneven lips, or have experienced volume loss due to aging. Lip filler is also great for enhancing the lip border (vermillion border), improving the cupid’s bow, correcting asymmetry, or adding hydration and smoothness to dry or lined lips.

Ideal candidates are in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and are seeking customized, conservative results tailored to their facial anatomy. Whether you’re new to filler or looking to refine previous work, lip filler can be adjusted to match your goals—from barely-there enhancement to fuller, more defined lips.

At Snatched Aesthetics, lip filler treatments are designed for patients who value balanced, natural-looking results that enhance their features without overpowering them.

Recovery & Results

Lip filler results are visible immediately after treatment, with continued improvement as initial swelling subsides over the first few days. Mild swelling, tenderness, or bruising is normal and typically resolves within 3–7 days. Most patients return to normal activities the same day with little to no downtime.

Final results are seen once swelling fully settles, revealing soft, smooth, and naturally enhanced lips. Depending on the filler used and individual metabolism, results typically last 6–12 months. At Snatched Aesthetics, results are designed to look balanced, hydrated, and natural—never overdone.

FAQs

*This information is for education only and is not meant as a guarantee of results. Your results may vary.

The most common type of lip enhancement uses non-surgical dermal fillers to enhance the appearance of your lips. The filler is carefully placed in the lips to achieve fuller volume, treat asymmetry and fine lines and/or reshape the lips.

While non-surgical lip augmentation does have limitations compared to surgical lip enhancement, lip augmentation using filler is a relatively quick and easy procedure with little to no downtime and results that can last for several months.

The longevity of lip fillers varies depending on the type of filler used, individual metabolism, and lifestyle factors. Typically, they last between 6 to 12 months.

When performed by a qualified and experienced medical professional, lip fillers are generally safe. However, as with any cosmetic procedure, there are risks involved, including allergic reactions, infection, and asymmetry.

Some of the most common uses for lip enhancement with filler are to:

1. Restore
Starting as early as our late 20s, our lips actually start getting longer and thinner, turning downward and inward. So, restoring what has been lost first is the most important step.
2. Add volume
Carefully placed lip filler can create a plumping effect, resulting in a fuller, natural-looking pout.
3. Reshape
Lip filler can also slightly reshape the lips, creating more or less definition of a certain area of your lips.
4. Address asymmetry
Most people have some level of asymmetry in their lips, though this may be more pronounced for some than others. Lip augmentation can temporarily address this concern.
5. Treat lines and wrinkles
Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth are a common cosmetic concern that can be addressed at the same time as your lip augmentation.

The lip filler procedure usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes, including consultation, preparation, and the actual injection process.

Most practitioners use a topical anesthetic to numb the lips before the injection, minimizing discomfort. Some fillers also contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to further reduce pain during the procedure.

Avoid alcohol, blood thinners, and anti-inflammatory medications for at least 24 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.

After the procedure, it is common to experience some swelling, bruising, and tenderness around the injection sites. These side effects usually subside within a few days.

Post-procedure, you should avoid excessive touching or massaging of the lips, exposure to high heat (such as saunas or hot showers), and intense physical activity for a few days.

There is minimal downtime associated with lip fillers. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure, although it is advisable to avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat for the first 24-48 hours.

Common side effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness, and redness. Rare but more serious complications can include infection, allergic reactions, and vascular occlusion.

Lip injections can cost anywhere from $500 to $2,000, depending on the type of filler used, the skill and expertise of the provider, your specific goals and location and other factors.

Lip enhancement using facial fillers is not permanent and usually lasts up to twelve months.

Yes, most hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be dissolved if the results are not as desired or if there are complications.

It is generally recommended to avoid cosmetic injections, including lip fillers, during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to the lack of research on safety in these conditions.

Initially, your lips may feel slightly different due to swelling and the presence of the filler. However, once the swelling subsides and the filler settles, your lips should feel natural.

If you’re not satisfied with the outcome, you should consult with your practitioner. They can discuss options for adjustment or, if appropriate, using hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler.
