Best Candidates For PDO Thread Lift

Ideal thread lift candidates are in good health and have realistic expectations for treatment. You are likely a good candidate for a thread lift if you have lax or loose skin on the face, neck or chest that has resulted in lines and wrinkles, sagging skin/jowling and/or a crepey texture, all of which could improve with a lifting and tightening of the skin. If you are hoping to lose weight or excess fat in addition to lifting and tightening skin, we may recommend that you first undergo other body contouring treatments before your thread lift to optimize your results. For example, Kybella® double chin treatment can help you reduce fat under the chin. If indicated, we would administer Kybella and help you achieve the desired fat reduction before pursuing the lifting and tightening effects of a thread lift.

What To Expect

We will first apply a topical anesthetic to your treatment areas to ensure you are fully numb before we insert the threads. We will then carefully insert the threads into precise areas of the face, neck or chest, positioning the threads parallel to the skin’s surface. The threads are designed to lift and smooth the skin by providing a scaffolding-type of support structure beneath the skin. You will feel some tugging and pulling of your skin during treatment as we are positioning your threads, but you should feel relatively comfortable throughout your session.

Recovery & Results

Immediately following your treatment, you should notice immediate lifting and smoothing effects! However, your skin will be red and swollen where the threads have been inserted. These side effects will subside in the days following your treatment. Your optimal results will appear within two weeks following your thread lift session.

Because PDO threads are fully dissolvable, they will dissolve within six months of insertion. However, your age-defying improvements will continue as the threads have stimulated new collagen and elastin growth from within!

FAQs

PDO (Polydioxanone) threads are absorbable surgical sutures used in aesthetic procedures to lift and rejuvenate sagging skin. They are commonly used in the face, neck, and other areas to stimulate collagen production.

PDO threads are inserted into the skin using fine needles. Once in place, they provide an immediate lifting effect and stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen, which helps to improve skin texture and elasticity over time.

Common areas include the face (cheeks, jawline, brows, under-eye area), neck, and sometimes other body parts like the abdomen.

The procedure typically takes between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the number of threads used and the areas being treated.

A local anesthetic is usually applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Most patients report minimal pain and describe the sensation as a slight tugging or pressure.

Recovery time is minimal. Patients may experience mild swelling, bruising, or soreness for a few days. Most people can resume their normal activities within a day or two.

The threads dissolve within 6 to 9 months, but the collagen-stimulating effects can last up to 12 to 18 months, depending on individual factors such as age, skin condition, and lifestyle.

Side effects are generally mild and may include temporary swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Rarely, there can be complications such as infection, thread migration, or an allergic reaction.

Good candidates are individuals with mild to moderate skin laxity who are looking for a non-surgical option to improve their appearance. It’s best to consult with a qualified practitioner to determine suitability.

Yes, PDO threads can be combined with other aesthetic treatments such as dermal fillers, Botox, and skin resurfacing procedures for enhanced results.

Patients should avoid alcohol, smoking, and blood-thinning medications or supplements for a few days before the procedure to minimize the risk of bruising and bleeding.

Post-treatment care includes avoiding strenuous activities, excessive facial movements, and sleeping on your side for a few days. Following the practitioner’s aftercare instructions is crucial for optimal results.

PDO thread treatments are generally considered safe when performed by experienced and qualified practitioners. As with any medical procedure, it is essential to choose a reputable provider to minimize risks.
